Hey Bushido backers,

Some exciting news today....

Spirit School UNLOCKED

 Thanks to your shares, retweets and thumbs we've achieved our social stretch goal!

The Spirit school will come included with copies of Bushido for Kickstarter backers and will only be available as a separately purchased promo direct from us after that (not in retail). 

Gameplay-wise, this school works a little differently from the others. Each of the cards is tied to one of the base game schools (Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Shadow) and can be boosted by other cards from those schools. The cards themselves are drafted separately after the main five-card draft and provide powerful effects... but use them wisely as they can only be played once per game!

We'll be discussing more specifics over the next few days, but thanks for spreading the word to get to this unlock. We're closing in on the other two stretch goals as well.

New Art Incoming - Social Stretch Goal Update

Just ten days left in the campaign! Here's a quick update on things:

Bushido Art

We've been receiving art as the campaign has been running from talented illustrator Malcolm Wope .  This is Observant Reflection technique.

Social Stretch Goal

As an update, we're at 85 of the 100 retweets/shares/thumbs needed to unlock a Kickstarter exclusive school added to the game (accessible as a promo for non-backers for an extra charge). All we need are a combination of 15 more retweets on the pinned tweet on the top of this page, shares on the pinned post on this page and thumbs on this video . 

We're also not far off from the $17K stretch goal to unlock the Odachi!

Closing in on Stretch Goals --- Bushido Coverage Rolling In

Howdy Bushido backers!

I hope everyone's Thursday (or Friday depending on your time zone) has been going well!

Had a few things to update backers on.

$14K and Counting

Thank you so much for your continued support! We just crossed the $14K threshold today. That means we're closing in on that first stretch goal.... a nice dice upgrade.

It also puts us that much closer to unlocking the Odachi and Tetsubo! We showed off both weapons during last night's live stream (more details on that in a minute).

There's also progress being made on that social stretch goal to unlock exclusive cards for the Kickstarter edition of the game. As of this post, we're at 34 shares and retweets (including quote tweets) of the 100 needed.

Live Stream

Yesterday was the first live stream we've run through Kickstarter Live for one of our projects and we think it went pretty well overall! Thanks to everyone who stopped by to watch Josh and I square off in three matches. I (Alex) came out victorious after a hard fought third game where everything seemed to change in just one turn.

We'd love your feedback on the stream itself! I think the intent is going to be to put the camera a little further away and then tilt it down during gameplay itself next time. Anything else you'd like to see?

Bushido Coverage

There's been a nice uptick in coverage for the game today as well! First up, Spencer and Lara from Married with Board Games share their thoughts.

 We also had BJ from Board Game Gumbo weighing in on the Dice Tower's Crowd Surfing segment.

 One angle that we've struggled making inroads with so far is getting attention from the Magic: The Gathering community. The Cardboard Hoard on Punchboard Media had this to say:

In conversation with Grey Fox Games “Chief Noisemaker” Alex Goldsmith earlier in the month, he‘d mentioned they’d be demoing Bushido, which he said would be a hit with Magic: The Gathering style gamers. So I made my first stop at their booth to check it out for myself. As a former MtG player, I can tell you he isn’t just making noise. Bushido played quick and fun, with exactly the kind of push and pull players want in a two-player dueling game. Add to that a nicely illustrated martial arts theme and lots of custom dice, and I see this one being a winner for them.

Thanks to Eric Buscemi for that writeup. If there are any avid MtG players in the group with suggestions, we're certainly open to them!

And thanks again to you for showing faith in this project. As you might be able to tell from the stream, we love playing this game ourselves and we can't wait to get a fully produced version on your gaming table next year!

Laser-Etched Dice UNLOCKED! - More Attention

Hey Bushido backers!

Thanks to all your wonderful support we have hit our first stretch goal! 

We are now going to be upgrading dice for all copies of the game! There are more stretch goals to come, but we're not that far away from two new weapons... the Odachi and Tetsubo.

And don't forget, there's the social stretch goal to unlock an exclusive school of cards for backers of the games... All you have to do is retweet or share the pinned posts on our Grey Fox Games Twitter and Facebook pages.

At last check we are at 46 of the 100 shares/retweets required!

A couple of other notes... We've gotten some nice shoutouts of late, including a mention by W. Eric Martin on BGG  and in the Board Game Exposure group on Facebook.

Bushido Now Available On Tabletopia! - Another Path to an Exclusive School

A couple of bits of news for you! 

While we hope some folks have gotten a chance to try out the print and play, we also know we're in a digital age.

Tabletopia

Bushido is now available for online play at Tabletopia! It's another way to give the game a shot in the months between now and when we're able to deliver it. If you have any particularly epic matches, we'd love to hear about them!

 Social Stretch Goal

Thanks to everyone who's shared the campaign on Facebook and Twitter both to help bring more backers into the fold and to help work towards that social stretch goal. We want to make it easier to unlock a cool module that will be exclusive to backers, so we've added another path.

In addition to retweets and shares of the pinned posts on Facebook and Twitter, we're also counting thumbs on BGG on our designer's, Pedro P. Mendoza's, How to Play video. Right now, we're at 53 of the 100 needed.
