Final Three Days - Recap - Moon Shot Stretch Goal
over 6 years ago – Mon, Dec 18, 2017 at 08:28:35 AM

Hey there Bushido backers!

We're entering the final weekend of the campaign and hoping for a big boost to unlock yet another weapon, a card quality upgrade and something more that we'll get to later in this update....

But first a reminder of what's already been unlocked to this point:

For those keeping track, that's 5 new exclusive Spirit School cards backers are getting plus a new weapon added to the game and a dice upgrade.

There are now three stretch goals remaining:

That last stretch goal is the newest one. If we can hit $30K, we'll be adding a new technique card from each school to the base game, bringing the total number of technique cards up to 36 (not including the Spirit School).

Please keep spreading the word in these final days and don't forget to join us here on Kickstarter Live Monday at 7 PM EST for the last hour of the campaign!

Thanks for the support you've shown so far!

Tetsubo UNLOCKED - Twenty twenty twenty four hours to go
over 6 years ago – Mon, Dec 18, 2017 at 07:47:53 AM

Hey there Bushido backers,

We're halfway through the final 48 and what a final 48 it's been so far!

Let's start off with the big news....

New Stretch Goal

There's no bouncer for this club...
There's no bouncer for this club...

The Tetsubo is a particularly interesting weapon in that it gives you better access to torii tokens in Low Guard... a potentially nice benefit from red dice in Middle Guard.... and a nice path to direct damage in High Guard. Because it has a high token limit, it allows you to keep a nice balance of armor and torii tokens... although you sacrifice the ability to strike and use exploding dice.

Next up for stretch goals is a card quality upgrade and if the pace is really good, there's an outside shot at five more cards added to the base game.

Don't forget we'll be live streaming for the final hour of the campaign right here on Kickstarter Live... playing a game or two and answering questions as they come up.

Let's get fired up for the home stretch!

New Stretch Goal - Final Stream
over 6 years ago – Wed, Dec 13, 2017 at 04:54:32 PM

Hey there Bushido backers!

We're 5 days away from the campaign coming to a close. Per some requests from commenters, we're laying out another stretch goal to shoot for in the final days.

New Stretch Goal

We have no intentions of making Bushido with sub-standard components, however we also know there's a big desire out there for "premium". Current plans for the game would use 300 gsm, black core, linen-finished card stock. If we can hit this stretch goal, we'll bump those up to 310 gsm, blue core, linen-finished card stock, which should give the game a better feel.

There's another stretch goal we have that's definitely do-able but would take a big rush of folks that we'll talk about over the weekend.

Final Stream

On Monday, we'll be closing out the final hour of the campaign on Kickstarter Live, coming to you live from company HQ in Maryland Heights, MO. We'll be playing a round or two of Bushido, answering questions and cheering things on in the last hours.

Kusarigama

We're still waiting on more art from Malcolm Wope, one of the artists for the game. Currently, our in-house graphic designer/artist is working on weapon art. Check out the Kusarigama!

That's all for now! Thanks again for your support!

More Details on the Spirit School
over 6 years ago – Wed, Dec 13, 2017 at 05:23:39 AM

Hey there Bushido backers,

Congrats again on unlocking the Spirit School over the weekend!

We wanted to give you a better update on what came included with that school.

These are the five Spirit school cards as they currently exist. As you can tell, the art for these is not ready just yet and we're still doing some playtesting on the effects themselves. Those effects are tied thematically to the schools themselves.

As mentioned in the last update, the way these work mechanically is that they're drafted separately, after the main five-card draft with the player who drafted first also choosing to draft first in this contest. These cards are one-time-use during play so timing is everything!

These are exclusive for Kickstarter backers, only available as a separately purchased promo directly from Grey Fox Games going forward. They will not be in retail.

One week to go folks! Closing in on our first new weapon for the game.

Thanks,

Alex

Odachi UNLOCKED! - Rising Rage Info
over 6 years ago – Wed, Dec 13, 2017 at 05:23:33 AM

Hey there Bushido backers!

We've unlocked yet another stretch goal in the campaign.

This sword is mightier than a lot of pens
This sword is mightier than a lot of pens

The Odachi is a weapon that takes a little more knowledge of the game to use well.

Because damage increases significantly with each hit (1 hit = 1 damage, 2 hits = 3 damage, 3 hits = 6 damage, etc....), the ability to take a single hit and save it for later shouldn't be underestimated. When combined with the High Guard Boost ability, it could put you in a position to overwhelm your opponent with one big strike. In general, the Boost ability is a more advanced technique that this card complements quite nicely.

With the Odachi, there are now 5 weapons in the base game and another 4 in the expansion. Here's a sneak peek at one of the expansion weapons...

For those who would always bet on the tortoise over the hare

The Tinbe Rochin is a combination sword-shield that fits best with Earth school hands as it lets you more easily build up and use armor tokens. That green dice you see referenced on the card is the only die in the game that can grant "rage" (hence the Rising Rage expansion name). It's a resource that takes on increased importance in the expansion itself.

If we can hit the next stretch goal before the campaign ends next week, we'll have a total of 10 weapons in the game... a nice arsenal for any aspiring samurai.

Thanks for the support everyone!
